It depends how much time you want to spend there. The "loop" is pretty good for a first time pass-thru. I think the east end is accessed west of Kadoka a little ways ("Cactus Flats") off of I-90 and a 2-lane highway makes it way west, northwest through the park and comes out about 7 miles south of Wall and the inter-state again. The visitor's center at "Interior" is pretty cool. There are some good gravel roads that come off this highway in various places. One that is just inside the the Wall entry point goes over (I think) to the jumping off point of the Sage Creek Wilderness but I haven't done that in many years. Lots of p dogs, p rattlers, and antelope, and some mule deer. There are some small herds of bighorn sheep and of course buffalo in some spots. Enjoy!!

I spent a couple of days in the park a few years back. I could have spent a couple of more and not had enough. Quite some country. I spent a good portion of my time there following around the Big Horn Sheep. Quite the animals...

if ya have young kids along cosmos is a fun time for them, its a scam tourist trap... but kids will remember it all illusions ,ball rolls uphill in crooked old house ect.. adults should pass..! Its been years since i been to any of the caves .. its worthwhile to do one someone else might chip in and recomend the best one . loaf around keystone and eat some salt water taffy .. fourth of july so it'll be crowded. it'll be hot so might be some of hals nieces in short shorts . mamouth site is good probably the most reasonable priced admission of all of them i think 10 bucks or so. but the faces and crazy horse are the main ones.

We were there 2 days ago (Friday). Took the family to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Hit the Badlands on the way home. Everything was beautiful. Wyoming is the most incredible state I have seen, even if you take out Yellowstone. In the Badlands we took the eastern loop road. Really cool.

Just like hunting times early or late hours are the best you might see some impressive deer at those times seen some huge mulies there in the past.

I worked out there in '15 and '16,and for a Michigan boy who'd never been west it was like landing on the moon.No trees, dry heat, rattlesnakes, huge wolf spiders, and I loved it.A scene I'll never forget was one evening we worked late on the buffalo corral for the annual buffalo roundup they hold every fall(keep in mind I had not seen a buffalo out there yet). The corral is in the Sage Creek Wilderness Area and it happened to be the first time I'd been in there. While riding back out that evening at dusk I happened to look to my right down in a valley and there in scattered groups were hundreds of buffalo grazing. It was a scene right out of the early 19th century.A scene I'll never forget
