My take on the video was that if the drunk, would be good samaritan would have listened to the police officer and dropped the gun, at least one of the first several times he was told to, he would still be alive. I also think when you go party in a bar, that should leave your gun somewhere else.

we have become a police state.
law enforcement trains with military equipment and uses military tactics
everything is illegal
we have no privacy
we no longer own private property
irresponsible behavior is rewarded and responsible behavior punished

The title of your thread is very misleading. There is a whole lot more to the story than a man being shot for simply owning a gun.

Wording it like you did is as the type of dishonesty I'd expect from the wackos who want all guns taken away from us.

Yep..The problem with a cop is..In this day and time you don't know if a LEO is a LEO anymore..It's not uncommon to read about impersonators. In fact just had a story about some guy impersonating a animal vet..

I love the post about cops being tense and scared. I've experienced numerous encounters with police officers and yet none got ugly. Even approached 2 sitting in a car in Jersey. I reached inside my bomber jacket to retrieve my BOL so I couple ask directions 2 o'clock in the morning. No hail of bullets, not even a get on the ground.

Every one those encounters had one thing in common. I didn't hang a chip on my shoulder when I saw them.

IMO the officer had ample time to approach this guy while he was on the floor with his legs crossed. There was more than one officer there. There seem to be a lot of hostility in the officers voice, more that just giving commands. I would bet the officer after the event could not recall in commands in order. JMO

Your opininon of cops is as preconcieved as theirs is of criminals.

Think about it.

Saw a video a couple weeks ago. Huge dog jumps out of a car window and runs at the woman full blast barking and snarling. Less that a couple seconds and he's on ya. What would you do? Hope he's friendly? This is the amount of time a police officer has to act when a weapon is brandished. For content, the dog jumped up with feet on her shoulders and started licking her.

So, in your view anti, the cop thought to himself; "This guy owns a gun. I think I'll kill him." That is what your title implies.

Maybe you handle should be anitcop instead of antigov?

I hate seeing all the anti-law enforcement stuff on the news, but it appears that some here share the sentiment.

Why was he packing in a bar, looks like the gun was just in his right front pocket not a good way to carry. Why was he getting involved in a police matter. To many people carry that I know personally want to carry not to protect themselves but save the day for someone else. He could have been killed trying to help out in a car accident on a highway by a passing car. Not saying its wrong to help out but if your packing it brings you into a possible bad situation dealing with a officer or other bystanders. Bottom line is I don't think you should fear law enforcement, however you best be ready to back down and follow orders including get down in the dirt or you might be a statistic. A cop in my thinking has to deal with a lot and seems these days get a lot of flak they want to go home to and being behind the curve in a gun fight is not good for going home. Im would never want to judge someone on a video clip, and that is the reasoning for a trial.

This video led me to a lot more of shootings with body cams and both cops and suspects being killed seems to me the officer has to make decisions in most cases in a fraction of a second about the time it takes for a trap to close on your finger. Just how fast are you, seems like a lot of anti folks on here should be a cop and put all the bad guys in jail. Easy to be an arm chair quarterback lots harder to suit up and throw the ball

danvee;
Are we talking about the killing of David Shaver? The officer shot him 3 times. Why did the officer not approach David when he was on the floor with his legs crossed and his hand behind his head. Do the woman first while officer give cover that do David. No just because I carry a pistol does not give the office right to shoot me. In Michigan if you are stopped a car the first thing out of your mouth is that you carrying a weapon and have a permit to do so. If I get stopped by a office at night, I roll down all the window, (I have power windows) turn on the dome light and put my hands on the steering while and wait for the office to approach. I have never been stopped while carrying a weapon.
