I traded for one years ago and have never set it. Not sure even how to. I have a pic of it open and was wondering if someone could pm me with an email address so I could send the pic and would look at it to see if it's all there. I'm thinking of taking it to a Escanaba and trading it for something. Thanks

I have a couple Baileys. They work but they are temperamental. I believe the people at livetrap build them. Trap is pictured on that link.

I have no idea of how old your Bailey beaver trap is. I believe the Bailey beaver trap, like the Hancock beaver trap, has been remodeled. I think the original Bailey trap was replaced by the Model 801 Tomahawk beaver trap. However, spare/replacement parts for both models should be available from Tomahawk

Instructions for SETTING THE BAILEY BEAVER TRAP are at http://www.livetrap.com/images/instructions/Beaver_Trap.pdf

Yes that pic helped. The trigger mechanism was what I was wondering about. It looks to be all there. That video shows plainly how to set it.

The trigger is sheet metal with an upside down U that holds the spring together. Basically squeeze the spring together and place the trigger over the end of it.

I've modified mine by adding extra height to the trigger wires. We have extended check times if sets are made to drown and the extra trigger height allows for setting in deeper water. Also welded a bent washer to the other side of the sheet metal trigger. It creates and upside down T instead of an L. Makes the trap fire easier regardless of direction of travel.

I've added 9" of PVC pipe over the slide cables. That helps keep the cables moving freely while sandwiched between the fencing and the support arms.

Older models have chain running out to the dogs. They are heavier and primarily made of steel. Newer models use aluminum construction and cables instead of chain.
