Summer thunderstorm just rolled through.

Heard a loud cra k and thought the maple was coming down on my shop (that I was in).

Thankfully it was only a main limb and not the whole tree. But it's hung up on a few dead branches..

Anyone got any advice? It's over my shed and wood pile.

Don't stand under it.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Maybe if you could rent a man lift and cut it out or be able to lift it out and take down. Just a thought.

It's a good idea but it still has some Cambrian attached. I tried uploading photos but I keep getting an error.

You may have to do some chunk it up and take two people in the lift. One do some cutting and other handle the wood chunks/branches.

I thought this thread was going to be about the trap bait with that name, by Mark June.

Anyway, man a picture sure would help.

Seriously though, if the branch is big it sounds like a job for a pro.

If your wanting to do yourself a man lift would be a good choice.

Start cutting farther out of branch and work your way inwards.

Makes branch lighter and safer when cutting final cut

If I was going to do it myself I would first try to tie it securely to the main trunk so it will stay in place while you cut off smaller pieces that you can lower with a rope

Cut down the tree it is hung up on and they will both come down, just watch where you stand when cutting and exiting.

Do what BigBob said and don't take the chance of making it any worse. Let your insurance guy handle it. He will know who to call to limit the damage.

That might be the way to go if it wasn't hanging over his shed.

Call your insurance agent now! Tell him the details and to be there first thing in the morning and if he refuses it’s on him. We had something similar with a huge pecan tree over our house. He said they didn’t cover trees, I told him fine, I was gonna take a week of vacation a be picking out my new floor plans for my new house he would be paying for. He was there at 0745 the next morning and had a tree service company there by 0900...tree was cheaper than a house.
