Has anyone had any luck using pressure washers? I am tearing up beaver pelts for some reason.

Never tried it, and probably never will. Learn to do it the correct way, with a knife, and you will be a lot better off.
A pressure washer seems way more messy too.

have thought about it, especially with beavers. might give it a try this fall on a beaver just to see.

Learn to clean skin your beavers-keep it simple.

If you can't rough skin In less then 6 min and then flesh over the beam In 10 min your not doing something right or you just need more practice.

If I had to clean skin beaver I would quit beaver trapping.

Me to Boco.
When I was catching 250 beaver In 2 months down south you learned how to become fast and efficient. You needed to be very fast or quit trapping beaver.
We rough skinned and froze the hides and did the fleshing at home. We didn't have the facilities where we were staying to dry beaver hides.
I don't think there Is a beaver out there that I couldn't rough skin In 8 min or less. My best time was 3min and 16 seconds. That was from the time I laid the beaver on the table till the hide hit the floor. And there were no Holes LOL

Your tearing them I presume when your fleshing? if so learn the over your leg fleshing method it teachs you how to have a lighter touch. U- tube trappers world or trapping inc both have a good video demonstrating it. It helped me!

If your knife angle Is just about flat you won't cut holes In a beaver hide. And about 80% of the fleshing done on a beaver Is done with the dull side of your knife.

beav your a better man than me I cant get the fat to roll using the dull side. Only way I can get a hide super clean is over my leg with a sharp boning knife.

How are you placing your hide on the beam?
