On the History channel not sure who the technical advisor was but he needs to be fired! LOL

Today the are talking about the fur trade then show a Marmot standing on a rick along with some beavers swimming around footage, then the traps they were using "back" then looked like manufactured #2 or #3 COILS! LOL

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I remember one of the trapping magazines had a story on trapping beavers with the story picture being a nutria swimming.

History channel has really gone to pot. Back in the late 90's it was nonstop documentaries. "With the Marines at Tarawa". I bet I watched that 200 times.

Stuff like that drives me to distraction. My Bride and kids would all just collectively groan when I started bellyaching when a movie scene had something stupid in it like that. It was 3-4 years ago that the Bride and I did a little road-trip to the U.P. We love the area around Tahquamenon Falls and gravitate to that area subconsciously. We walked (she drove her powerchair)to the overlook at the upper falls and went by one of those informative "poster under glass" deals along the trail that explained all you'd want to know about Beaver.....and the only photo on it was a Nutria! I contacted the state but I don't believe it was changed. We paid good money for some boob in Lansing to draw up and design that poster, you'd think they'd have some sort of double-check system in order.

I think they're just urban conservatives that don't know much about the nuances of historical Trapping equipment and probably on a budget that only allows for so much historically accurate props.

I watched the same thing. I was ticked off at all of the stuff that they “conveniently” left out.

The right/best thing to do is email them, stating "your disappointment in misleading the public" by not showing DLS traps instead of "modern coil spring traps"
I'd also add, "you'd be wise to consult a REAL trapper", which does not mean a modern "animal control officer"

I saw that when it first aired. I believe that was last year. I remember having to rewind a few times to make sure what I was seeing.
