I own a copy of it... Brian Keith was the other actor.
It's OK for a mountain man movie. Not sure how family friendly it is. There's some coarse language throughout the movie.
It's got some inaccuracies in it. But what fur trade era movie doesn't? Lol

I like the movie. Best scene I remember is when Hesston and Keith are firing their flint locks, side by side, laying down behind a small berm, I don't remember which one, but one of them found out you do not be by the right side of a flintlock when it is fired!!! LMAO at that! Dennis

I don't think kids under about 14 ought to watch it and a 14 year old will need some guiding by dad. Hesston and an indian warrior fight over a woman. some ideas shown will need to be talked about
I liked the movie

Great movie, I remember seeing it in 1980 I think was NTA I know it was Vermont. I also remember a protester making the mistake of spitting at me and my dad as we approached the gate, Old man laid the guy out cold with one punch turned and paid our admission without a word. My Dad looked like he was 10 foot tall in this 15 year olds eyes that day. Awesome ! back before cameras filming everyone and all the PC outcry. Just good ol' got what he had coming to him . I miss the 80's
