I did it to my old 870 special purpose 12 gauge years ago. I thought it was necessary to ever kill a turkey and the gun and I have probably killed 30 gobblers and at the same time improved the looks of the gun. I used rattle cans and plastic foliage from the decorating department at the local Ace Hardware Store. I love the look of a good walnut stock on a firearm and could never bring myself to Paint one, If ya already have a synthetic stock you have nothing to loose. My 870 looks like most of the paint has worked its way from the stock into the right side of my face but other than that has held up well.
Zim Agree with ya, spur of the moment post which is why it's gone.

Yeah painted several like the camo flat rustoleum stuff I won't paint good wood but synthetic or cheap maple I've never hurt the looks with it! Colt

I used a can of "bow flauge" once on a gun. Whole thing a goofy flat green. Then a few years later spent a lot of time with WD40 removing it and got it back to like new finish. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

They make a self etching primer in spray can(krylon, I believe). Its green...that's the base coat I have always used for rattlecan long guns. Never had any issues with paint coming off.

I did it to my bow, rattle cans in a woodland camo pattern, then took all shine off with auto rubbing compound.
