If you're just redoing existing blacktop before it gets too bad, does the price go down much?

Beeman, get several quotes from different paving outfits. They do charge by the ton laid. I retired after 30 yrs of laying asphalt, I have nightmares about it still, lol. If you want a quick reference to how many ton you'll need, take measurements of your drive. Take length x width x depth ÷ 12 ÷ 13.5 and that will give you a close estimate on tonnage.

Blee who did u work for, I'm with Shelly and sands. Night paving interstate 80 by Youngstown Frank, I worked for Hancock asphalt for 23 yrs until Shelly bought them out. So I worked for Shelly for a few years but got tired of driving all over the state. Short stint with Koko then settled in to a local small outfit that had me home every night. I did like the night paving though, lot cooler but more dangerous. Good luck

I know i got sticker-shock when i priced it.
Limestone it was. Don't be so cheap, use your fur check to get it paved.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.
