Grass in the yard is being dug up and pulled out in patches.
Have lots of deer, turkeys, and rabbits. Have trapped raccoons and skunks there in the past.
We're in Wisconsin. What's doing this?

That's what I was thinking.
I hung 3 trail cameras and hopefully within a night or two we'll know who is the culprit.

I usually see skunks make the small holes and then raccoons come in and dig too, like what your seeing there. But as we all know it could be many things as the critters seem to not always follow the same MO

Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!

If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

Down here, I would say armadillos, but in your area, skunks.

still have not found out yet, it has been kind of dry and so far not much on trail cameras, some deer during the night and turkey during the day time. Have caught one coon and one possum. Holding off on trapping right now until we get some good information from the cameras.

well, we caught one raccoon and it stopped right away, but I kind of doubt that was it. right now just monitoring the trail cameras and waiting to see new damage.

Looks like raccoons to me because it's rolled up. I bet this guy will agree.

If it's rooted kinda like hogs it be skunks, coons kinda dig little pocks. I've watched skunks root like hogs with there nose, hard to tell from the pics!

it's actually both.
parts look rooted like hogs, other areas are clearly small, round pockets like a squirrel would dig.

It's very rare for me to only catch one or the other on a lawn. It is almost always both skunks and raccoons where I'm at.

absolute Web if there is groceries for one there is groceries for others.

Also in my area if the area of grass is long and rolled back it is coon, and skunks dig or scratch the spots or for worms dig the worm hole down.

so far trail cameras show lots of raccoons. no skunk has been sighted, doesn't mean there isn't one.
traps are set, let's see what we can catch!

Saturday morning I had my first double in one cage, along with another raccoon and one possum.
Bringing the total to 7 raccoons and 3 possums on this property so far.
Trail camera showing 3 more young raccoons. Also the fox comes to check out the cages, but won't commit.

Raccoon #10, interrupted its early morning nap, it was fast asleep as I walked up.
And finally caught the fox, released unharmed.
