I recently had a buddy call and ask if I needed some meat. He hunts ALOT and had a freezer full but had to leave for a 6-8 month work detail and wanted to clean out his freezer before leaving.
I ended up with about 80-100 lbs of mnt goat, bighorn, king salmon, blacktail deer, whitetail, and mnt lion.
Having eaten several meals of all, I can say I've loved everything but the bighorn. It was just " ok"
The mnt goat was fabulous which surprised me.
Sitka blacktail was WAY better than any whitetail!
And the mnt lion...
Never would have thought it but it was superb!! Like pork.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

I had Stroganoff made with Mountain Lion at one of our bear crew wild game feeds. Really good! Kind of gives you a taste for...cat.

Kid I use to work with had killed about everything imaginable in N America and he said mountain lion was the best also. I'm going to cook some bobcat sometime to try.

Mtn lion tacos are awesome! Slow-cooker then shred and serve in tacos with lime, cilantro, onion and mango salsa.

bobcat is not for everybody. like antelope you either love it or don't like it. (no it doesn't taste like antelope)

Venison (wild meat) is so much healthier too

I love the flavor of good beef, but know it's not healthy

For the last 30+ years it has been deer, goose, turkey and fish as my and my families primary meat source. And all three of my adult children complained about the wild meat their last few years at home, but........ Now when the come for dinner they want wild meat and even like to take some frozen meat home.

I'll just stick with venison. 2 deer is almost too much meat for a season.

That is nice of the person to give you all of that. Now if I do get a cat ,Mnt. or bob .I know what I will do with it now.The deer here in IA is just really free range live stock for when we hunt them.
