Own a 2008 Polaris 400 sportsman. Running good yesterday til I turned it off. Turn it on and nothing. Screen that shows what gear your in now shows what looks like a wrench. Problem? Thanks

I would interpret that to mean either tap on it with a wrench or use a wrench to disconnect the screen. If that doesn’t work, put electrical tape over the screen.

Maybe a sensor failed?

The wrench probably means you have a trouble code or are due for service. May or may not be related to no start. Is it flashing?

When you turn the key does "nothing" literally happen or do some stuff come on? Does it crank and not start or not crank?

best bet for trouble shooting, I am a member and lots of info. the book should tell you how to bring up the code and then you look up the code number and that should put you in the right direction.

Yep.. Just its way of letting you know it needs serviced. There should be a flashing sequence that you can look up for what it is.

only time I had that happen is on my 570 efi. Fuel pump. The 2008 400 is carbed though. The flashing wrench usually means it needs an oil change, but its not limited to that. Best to get a dealer to plug it in in case it has something to do with the issue

I wanted to thank the trapper who posted this, as it made a decision for me in I will never purchase a Polaris. When I buy things from washing machines to whatever, what I look for a dials and not these computer screens like I am typing on.
I have a Service Engine light on my pickup that cost me 400 dollars and is still on from last year. I think it is the gas tank lid as the experts did not fix it. A neighbor has the same thing and he said just unhook the battery for a bit and it turns off.
Or I will find a 1964 Chevy pick up that will run after an atomic attack.

try that code check and look it up if the screen is working.

I assume the instrument cluster is coming on if you have a service light? Can you hear the solenoid click when you hit the start button?

Check battery voltage.

If you don’t hear clicking from the starter then make sure that you have power to the thin wire on the solenoid. If you don’t then you likely have an issue in the ignition switch, neutral switch or run switch.

If you do hear it then check the contacts with the key in the start position. You should have 12 volts on both sides. If you don’t you might need to replace the solenoid.

You can try jumping the starter solenoid to see if it will crank.

Low oil cutoff?

My Polaris shutdown on me and I worked for hours trying to diagnose the problem. Found that I had inadvertently hit and slid the kill switch on the left handlebar! Probably not your issue but I was chagrined after discovering my Polaris issue!
