I am looking at getting a 44 magnum with a 14" barrel and a Boss system type compensator on the barrel. It has a Burris Handgun scope already on it. I am looking at hunting with it off of my bow stands in rifle season. I cant see past 70 yards. Yall give me some input please.

I have had one for years, I have the 41. Mag barrel, .223 barrel, and the .22 LR barrel. I am able to thread ragged holes at 100 yds with the open sites on the 41 mag. as long as I can get an extremely good rest, but even with just holding the barrel I can keep it within a paper plate. None of mine have a compensator on them and the recoil is manageable, I have even shot one of the 45-70 Govt with out the compensator. While it wasn't something that I'd do everyday it wasn't bad.

I think that it would be great for stand hunting, it will have no problem taking down a big deer.

Wear ear protection and you will be good to go. I've got 30-30, 44mag and 22Lr, wouldn't trade em for anything.

I have two. Both of mine are 7-30 waters pistols. I have a carbine barrel in the same caliber and another in 223.

I have taken five deer with the pistols. Longest was 156 yds. Most dropped within a few steps. Had to track one. The long shot was a lucky head shot.

Grandkids have each taken first deer with the carbine barrels.

the 7-30 makes deer plumb dead.

what kind of magnification is the scope? did not like a 2x scope, you should not need a compensator on a 44 in a 14 inch barrel.there is no quick second shot and the blast is hard on the shooter.

I pity the fool on the receiving end of a 44mag out of a 14 inch barrel. I shoot a 44mag carbine (Ruger) and it is a deer slayer (which also happens to be the model name, Deerslayer).

inside 100 yards with a decent bullet , you will have venison on the table.

wear your electronic ear protection.

Love my Super14.

I have a 17hmr,.223, 7-30 waters. The Waters has 8 to it's credit. 200 yards was the furthest, with a nice 10pt making it just over 20 steps from impact. I use 3-12 Burris scopes.

I am not sure on the scope magnification. I will verify what it is tomorrow before I buy it. I have killed two deer with my youngest brothers Contender in a 7-30. They were both in bow range.

I've got a 7mm tcu 14". Love shooting it. It's a tack driver. Excellent job on deer.
