What are 5 month old Calico Princess and Isa Brown layers worth in your part of the world? Getting 80% daily. Looking to sell some.

Havn't seen those breeds around here much but Orpingtons and other layers around that age are 10 to 14 bucks.

They are rated as prolific layers and are living up to it. Just do not need 3 dozen+ eggs per day.

I hear ya, I just give away any extras I have to family and friends. Then it seems they always have something they want to give me so it all works out.

Never heard of those breeds but 5 month old laying breeds go for 12 to 15 around here.

Might be able to give chickens away here but wouldn't count on it.

My Isa Brown and California Whites started laying about a week before they were four months old.

Local ad that has been running for a year kinda sets the price for any hens:
Quote:
We have new chickens! SALE CHICKENS! CHICKENS! Chickens! Red laying hens, $2.50 each, 12-14 months old. 417-489-2062, 417-235-4282. YES....as long as there is an ad, there’s gonna be chickens! These birds are heavy!

Fancy birds & game chickens bring 10-12$ layers not so much.

Around me in France I pay $13 for 5 month old laying hens. 30 minutes away in Spain I can buy the same chickens at 4 months for $5.50.

looked your birds up sounds like there in line with other egg layers at the hatcherys only diff i could see is their small 4 to 5 pds when mature if you find some one that really wants them bad i would ask 100 each if there isnt any interest i would ask 1 dollar and hope some one wants them for trapping bait. lot of birds in our area lot of houses that has 1000s of birds that turn their birds over every year sell their year old hens from free to 2 dollars pullets are a little more and pretty birds they take to the fair a little more yet

$6 to $12. Sometimes I have sold 1 rooster and two layers as a breeding Trio for $50 to $75 they always sell that way better.

I can't tell 5 mo old from 20 mo old by looking, is there a trick to knowing that you are buying 5-6 mo old or just believe what you hear?
I had 30 7-8 month old hens and several people argued that they were two years old just by looks and that some were older than the others, so how do tell?

Sent 7 roosters (10 mo) to auction in May and they brought $1 each before sales charges and the sales charges ate most all of that, next go round they will feed the eagles.

Heard of one farm that was said to have millions of hens not thousands and a couple months ago eggs in the big store got to $0.50 per dozen for a while.
