I only have 5 lure and bait making books. They are...

Making and Using Lures and Baits

Formulating & Compounding Animal Lures and Baits

Trapper Guide To Using Essential Oils, Essences, Powders and Crystals

All three by Nick Wyshinski. And...

Musk Mystery and Misconceptions

The Complete Guide To Lures and Baits

Both by Russ Carman

There are some good videos on the subject too but that's another thread. wink

There aren't many more than 5. Carman's MMM is top on my list. You probably won't fully understand it the first read or two through.....I know i didn't. Still learning from it. There is a lot of concern about revealing secrets in lure making books, but I think for the most part, 95% of folks reading the information don't do much with it after realizing how much thought, time, money and emotion are required to become a successful lure maker.

There are not many more books but there are more books.
You also can check out some of the DVDs on the subject. Again, most of these are not going to hand you tried and true formulas that have made the authors a lot of money. Some of the DVDs do include valuable information that it would take you a while to learn if you go it alone.
I have watched quite a few lure making DVDS and got something out of most of them. Locklear has a pretty decent one.

jwood is right on regarding the 95% figure. I was one until I took my time and practice, practice, practice. Now I make a pretty good yote bait but buy my lure from the pros. No problem paying for their knowledge and experience.
ps I like Nick’s book.

Here are the ones I can think of right now, maybe there are others.

Books:
Nick Wyshinski - Making and using lures and baits, Formulating and compounding animal lures & baits, Trappers guide to using essential oils, essences, powders and crystals
Kellen Kaatz - Encyclopedia of lure and bait making
Russ Carman - Musk, mystery & misconceptions, The complete guide to lures & baits
Leonard Pavek - The making of baits, lures attractors for fox & coyote

Videos:
Johnny Thorpe - Lure & bait making
Clint Locklear - Lure & bait making
Kellen Kaatz - In the lure room
Kellen Kaatz - Cracking the code
Nick Wyshinski - Formulating trapping lures and baits

Anyone have any others?

There is some lure making info in pages of other trapping books I have, like O'Gorman's Hi Rolling Fox Trapping and Hawbaker's Trapping North American Furbearers.

It's not specifically about lure making, but I'm in the process of reading Charles Dobbins' "Evaluation of Lures, Baits and Urine", and so far it is REALLY good.

For those interested, I did a review on Dobbins' "Evaluation of Lures, Baits and Urines" on this week's podcast episode.
Here's the link: http://trappingtoday.com/trapping-today-podcast-37-evaluation-lures-baits-urines/
