I'm going antelope hunting in WY. Does anyone know if you need a trapping license and if there is a season there? The way I read it they are a predatory animal and there is no license needed and no season.

No license needed for coon, coyote, fox, they are classified as predatory animals like a skunk, the fur won't be anywhere near prime during antelope season

I understand the fur won't be worth anything. I was just hoping to be able to catch a coyote in another state. I'm sure the landowner would appreciate it and it could be an opportunity to come back and trap in the future.
So, I can see that you don't need a license to shoot them, but what about setting a trap for them.

Contact the Wyoming Game and Fish. That's your best bet to stay out of trouble, and to be sure you're in the right.

It's a trappers life for me

No fur license needed unless you want to keep a furbearer, Badgers, bobcat, mink, beaver and ect are fur bearers.
I see where you are coming from, to catch one there, hopefully the rancher will let you, some just want the coyote control take care of it

Most counties have 1-4 guys that are supposed to control coyote predation.
I think it's pretty exciting to call one in, it seems easier to call them out there than at home. I think it's harder to surprise them here at home.
If you go calling early in the morning and near dark at night you could hunt antelope in warmer part of the day

If you can set a few you should have a catch pole to release a bobcat or badger if you accidentally catch one. Some places have guard dogs, usually no trapping there

Good info on bringing the catch pole and being mindful of the heat. I will take it all under advisement. Found some great territory on Google Earth. Edges of irrigation ditches look great. I only intend on taking 1-2 traps and keeping them very close to the tent. The last time I was there we climbed on top of the guys square bale pile (about 2 stories high) and were able to shoot 3 of them. Could've shot one with the bow the last time when I came up out of an irrigation ditch. He was mousing and I smooched him in. At this point in my life I would rather catch them than shoot them.

Stay away from hay stacks usually more skunks there
Saddles where it's lower on high ridges, trail junctions, saddles with trails, also locations I have set before

As stated before, you do not need a license to trap coyotes. No need to call a Govt agency. BUT, you must follow all the rules/regs of trapping. Traps tagged, 72 hr check, ect

Antelope, the original fast food!!
