I have an area I allow a few tree services to drop blockwood. It is away from the house. No power. No line of sight from the house. It is just a couple acres with road access in two places. One alongside the house the back way out of sight.

Lately, someone has been dumping crap that I don't allow. I've talked to all allowed parties, and no one knows nothin'!!

I plan on blocking the remote area off, forcing access alongside the house and monitoring with security cameras. I am a complete novice at this, but, am thinking a camera at the access point, and probably another 3 or 4 to cover the roughly 600 x 300 area.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Why not just digital deer cameras? I use them all the time around my place.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I know they make a sensor that lights or beeps when the beam it admits is broken. I do not know how far away they work but are wireless. My neighbor has some set up in a row and can tell which way animal/person is going by which one goes off first. Or try it the old way with a trip wire and grenade.

Depending on how far from your house the lorex wireless system is decent. Otherwise go with game cameras.

I use my spypoint link Evo for security at my cabin site, and for hunting. Walked in front of it yesterday, ten seconds later my phone dinged and I had a picture of myself in my hand. They work awesome, and unlike a security system you can know exactly when they are there and you have the option to go bust their butts right now.

Direct to cellphone trail cameras are awesome. I like spy point because you don't deal with any phone companies for a plan. Just download the free app, and select the plan you want. Can also check battery life, cell signal, temp, etc right from the app, and one $15.00 a month cell phone data plan covers multiple cameras

Any thoughts as to whether the cameras:
  • should be concealed to catch the culprit and safeguard the cameras
  • Exposed to encourage best behavior
  • Maybe a few of each.

My cameras are visible and are motion activated to my cell phone. Even if someone tries to take the battery or the camera, it has already sent to my hard drive at home. The batteries usually last about 6 months depending on how often it is activated.
