I started using 160's on trail sets last year, they worked wonders.

If my math is right you would have to be setting a 280 or larger to be in that square inch range.

160s in tightest spots on coon trails are awesome, gets even gigantic coon right behind the ears every time. Only elevated set I've seen work were baited coon boxes with 160s or 220s used up overhead and attached to trees with wire or bungy chords. I would think the 160 trails sets would be more productive though. St least they are for me here. Jim

I'm pretty sure it supposed to be from the outside of the bodygrip jaws. But my main focus is avoiding dogs It would be better if they just did like Illinois and stated nothing bigger than a 220 on dry land. But even with your states regulation a 220 is only 49 square inches.

And plenty of dogs that will fit their heads in a 160. Maybe Plan B if you're worried about dogs. Definitely, I can legally set 220s on dry land but I wont set one on dry land due to all the free range dogs. One land owner has 2 dogs that could get their heads in a 110

deerhunter65322 tony hursman made a set on leaning trees using 220 and bbq sauce trail past the trap set head high and claimed he did well. Even caught a few greys

The way we have to measure body grips here in WI is outside of the humps to outside of hump plus outside of rivet across to outside of rivet. Measuring this way a 220 is over 60 square inches, close to 64” actually.

My experience has been like Calvins snow told the story but I did not set a large amount or try different setups this was in tall grass trails and maybe I used to much grass to blend in the trap giving the coon a chance to pick a spot of least resistance
