How do you guys carry you critters when you can't get a vehicle to them? Coyotes when well off the path, beavers in the swamps,...etc. What is your preferred way to get them out? Or is just grabbing a back leg best?

Big canoe pack with a Tump line for hiking out with beavers.3 or so in one trip depending on size.Used to pack 5 in the younger days.About the same weight as a moose quarter.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I throw what I can in my Fiber-Tuff pack basket, the rest are carried by hand.

Carry some in my pack. I aslo have a few (handles) made from a piece of conduit 6 inches long with a cable through it. Adjustable loop on each end. Put one front foot and one back foot of a critter in each loop and they are much easier to carry!

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!

I carry a couple of old shoes strings wrapped up and in my pocket. I can tie four legs together on a coyote and carry them out feet up, body down, like a suitcase.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I drag em with my conibear setters (by the front foot)...but I'm not usually going far. The tongs lock right on. Of course you're kind of limited to two at a time.

Most of the time I throw them in my pack basket and then carry in my hands. A few times I have had to walk to some remote beaver ponds. Set them with my 4 wheeler but 2 flat tires that I didnt have time to fix made me walk. It was an honest 3 mile walk and down a big ridge. I ended up with 5 big beaver 6 coons a couple of rats and an otter. My first thought was I was gonna pack them........HA. My next thought was to pack the beaver out a couple at a time,at least to the top of the hill, nope. I ended up skinning the beavers, and while I was at it I thought what the heck and skinned everything in the woods.

I went home and fixed my flat tires.

I make my sets to where I can get the 4wheeler within a couple of hundred yards. If the beaver are way back in there. I throw them in Computer Haters trap basket so I don’t have to carry them. grin

I use a short piece of 3/8'' rope and I make a loop on each end. It is about 2' long. Works for skinning too

Just passin through

I carry 2 short snare cables. One with a fixed loop and one with a sliding loop, and a case trapper pocket knife. Throw a feed bag in your pack basket. Skin everything on the line. You can fit a lot of fur in a bushel feed bag, and you don’t have to worry about what to do with the carcasses. I just find a branch high enough off the ground to hang them from. I even skin a lot of critters on the line when I am close to the truck. A warm coon or coyote is way easier to skin than a cold one. I do prefer to let fox get cold though.

Short haul, I carry by front & back leg with land animals.

Long haul, I may use this...

Ober the years I've had a few places that were far enough from a road that I skinned in the field. This was very convenient. Carrying beavers over a mile really stinks.

With a messed up back, I've been using a plastic sled pulling with my legs via a deer drag harness.....also keeps my hands free to carry other stuff.

I have a couple of ropes about 30" long with small spliced loops on the end. One loop for a front foot, the other on the back foot and hang them over my shoulder like a purse. Leaves both hands free and you can take 2 at a time. Second favorite are IKEA shopping bags, they are about 2' long, made of blue tarp material, with a pair of short and long over the shoulder handles. I think they only cost about $3.00 ..

I use something similar, from time to time.

A duck/goose decoy sled works very well.
