Best is a subjective thing and I haven't used a lot of different foothold beaver traps. I started with B&L #4 double longs 40 years ago and I've never had any issues that made me want to use anything else. It's just my preference and I'm sure you'd be well served with any well made trap of the propper size, but a big double long spring is my idea of the "best" all around beaver trap. I'd hate to have to do without my 330's too.

Good post! This is a question I have asked a few times in different post and had very similar answers.

After all the answers I have gotten I plan to buy a half dozen of the Montana #5s
The Bridger coil #5s
The KO beaver extremes
And possibly some of the Bridger #5DLS just to satisfy my curiosity.
