Cards are cheap and look professional, and will no doubt help you get the landowners attention, it can be stuck on a frig or tack board.

The number to call is BR-549.

Maybe have a pic of a coon or beaver on it and put "Experienced Trapper, Specializing In Nuisance Animal Removal"

Yes they do. Order plenty and distribute to family and friends and lay a few down wherever you go. May take awhile for them to take effect. People will hold onto them for years and then out of the blue. Your phone rings. Sarge

Yes, when I was still trapping my brother and I had some printed up. I lost count of how many times people would call us out of the blue asking for help with their critters. I haven't trapped much for 6 years now, and I still get people who call that "came across my card" and are asking critter solutions.

Pin a couple cards to the info board at local farm stores. You can also drop cards with land owners of leased properties and ask them to pass the card on to the hunter (s) in case they may want predator control. Not likely a hunter will call but now the card is in the owners hand. I think some land owners use the “lease” story so they don’t have to tell people “no”. After they see how professional you are they may call back.

Oh, and don’t forget, a trapping related Christmas and or Thank You Card showes your gratitude and that your the real deal. wink

Business cards do help in a sense that it is a way for the landowner to get ahold of you, in case of an issue. And stress this when asking for permission. It heads off little problems before they turn into big problems.

But beware...this adds to your calls in the off season (good or bad). Every farmer your give your card out to will call you at some point with a nuisance animal. And it's about never during season. Have an answer before that happens.

My basic rule on this is: I do it for free if it's during season and I'm trapping already. If out of season I have to charge something. Trapping during season is almost always great. Taking out every last beaver out of a drainage when it's 90 degrees, buggy and the beaver are not active is a complete different story.

Note when doing the above, Most of your "catches" doing summertime beaver work will be big snappers. Always pull the cable in first until you see what you have. Snappers are alive and well in a #330 even when submerged for a couple days...and some aint so happy to see ya.

I have picked up 18 new farms this summer, my routine is: dress like a "farmer", weathered leather boots, older jeans (no holes), well worn T shirt, Stihl saws camo hat and I have my Chocolate Lab in my not very clean truck with his big fat head sticking out of the window. I offer my name and exactly where I live first and then tell them I am a trapper, hand them my business card, and ask if they have a minute to talk. My card has Trapper in big bold letters then my name, address, & phone number. Two of the bigger farmers kind of him hawed until I mentioned that I trap muskrats if they are around where I would be Coyote trapping and thats sealed the deal!
It has worked awesome around here...........
