Been trapping a good many beavers out of a 20 acres lake that full of gators and they don't seem to eat many of the over size water rats. I believe their more into turtles, fish and pocket puppies then beavers. You guys that trap around gators do you believe they catch many beaver.

I don't think they have much effect on beaver populations.

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

I always wondered this myself. It seems like the kits and YOY beaver would be the most vulnerable.

We sure have a lot of gators and a lot of beaver.

Do they take beaver out of the traps like bear and wolf do.If not I doubt they would take any live ones.

Imagine the hair ball a beaver would create!

They will eat them when the feel like it. They may leave them alone for six months and than eat them all. Sometimes the gators leave to go eat somewhere else and come back to the lake.

The gators will take them out of the traps, it just depends how the feel.

Would it be easy for them to crawl into a beaver house and eat the whole litter? Seems like it would be easy peasy.

That's why a beaver house has a bunch of entrance\exit holes.

I've had gators eat beaver in traps before but seldom. I was taking a beaver out of a trap a week or so back and had a young gator watch me do it. The land owner said there was around a ten footer in there and that was the one I was watching for. Their cool but I don't trust them at all.

I get scared putting my hands in the water when setting beaver traps because I’m afraid a beaver or a fish will come bite me. I couldn’t do it if we had gators!

Beaver bites might be a deterrent to alligator attacks.
