I wonder where they are going to re-locate them to? Remember this is CA. and you can not hurt them. They are our friends.

I have absolutely no sympathy for California's nutria problem. They can go pound sand.
If I were one of the landowners they are trying to gain access from in order to kill nutria, I tell them they could access my property as soon as they allow fur trappers to trap the nutria as well as trap other furbearing animals.
States like California and Washington won't support trapping and are even antagonistic about trapping; however, as soon as an animal like nutria become a problem then they come running to trappers for help.
In these instances NWCO trappers are trappers worst enemies. If we would just stick together and not help-out States like CA and WA they would be forced to change their anti trapping laws.

Under the law, members of the public with hunting licenses are allowed to hunt nutria since the species is classified as a rodent, but the Department of Fish and Wildlife doesn't encourage it.
"It's not something we're promoting or encouraging for a number of reasons," Tira said. "For one, nutria are easily mistaken for other wildlife that have protections like river otters, beavers and muskrats that have a hunting season and are highly regulated."
people could help them but they don't want to say they should cause it just might help. Then the public might not hate hunters and trappers. What a sad state for a state.
200 per year!?! How many litters a year? how many per litter? Seems like an impossible fight.
Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Did anyone notice the wording in the first paragraph?
"For the small six-person team tasked with combating California's nutria infestation, a typical day consists of working in 100-degree weather, wading through marshes and avoiding traps built to catch 20-pound rodents, targeting about 2 million acres."
Yeah, I missed that they are targeting (trying to catch) acres, that's tougher.

Personally I would not go there if they paid 100 bucks per. Just going to sit back and enjoy watching the " solutions" those idiots come up with. Got to be better then anything that came out of hollyweird for a long time. Hanging up picture of Maxine waters in the infested areas will get them running right up to Canada.
