we have a thing called a corn zipper it is a stainless tool that has a curve to it and a raised cutting blade that strips the rows very clean. the problem is it is slow so it mostly just gets used for raw sweet corn going into a salad. it only strips about 3-4 rows at a time but it lifts the kernels off the cob very nicely.
if putting up corn a butcher or chefs knife is what I turned to you end up cutting a bunch of the kernels in half but you get it all when you turn the cob and make another slice , it makes for a creamier corn having the bits but it tastes good.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I use a sharp kitchen type knife with about a 6-8 inch blade. Works really great. I boil for about 15 minutes, cool, cut, pack in pint bags and freeze.

I use the electric knife also, but we only put-up 10 dozen or so a year and i can zip right thru them. The cooking and cooling takes longer than it takes me to slice and dice.

I use a electric fillet knife. Works good for as many as I do. But one little trick I learned was to also use a bundt cake pan. Cob fits in middle and stands on its own.Kernels fall into pan.

We've got several of the gadgets and they all work to some degree. My wife prefers to use a knife instead. So we just piled the freezer full of bags cut with a knife. I do the growing, picking, shucking, and silking, cob disposal. She does the inside put up and cooking.

I was reading through the responses to see if anyone else did this.
I use an angel food cake pan and an electric knife. Corn goes tip down, four, maybe five turns and.its done and in a bowl...
