Here I leave an acre or so of soybeans for a late season food source. When December hits the deer really come to it. I have a little plot in the woods that we plant buck forage oats and brassicas in, that works too.

I'm with you on the Diakon radishes from Hancock- always been mowed to the dirt by the deer- I don't have luck with turnips though, I use rape and mostly cereal rye.

Soy Beans in the spring and disc 1/2 of them under around first part of august, then plant rape and radishes- then overseed the rye about the 1st of September.

We plant radishes, clover, rutabagas and my favorite store bought mix is Honey Hole.
Honey hole never fails to come up.

From my experience it’s much more cost effective to do as previously mentioned. If you look on a bag of name brand seed, you can see exactly what kind of seeds are in it. I believe it’s the law that they have to tell you what’s in it. Around here you can buy rape seed for $2/lb and ladino clover for 5$/lb. I planted my yard with that clover rather than grass seed. I’ve tried the higher priced mixes and have not seen any evidence that it’s worth buying. The exception would be the mixes that contain seeds which are not readily available.

No more mixes for me. I'll plant certain seeds at certain times.
My main plots are pumpkin, rye n oats.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

I like corn and soybeans , this time of year I plant winter wheat. Who doesn’t like a little salad before having meat and potatoes !
