Was fishing for cutthroats yesterday with a good buddy. There was a mink working the bank right next to me. Darting in and out of small underwater openings in the boulders and rocks along the shoreline, every so often. A larger boulder with a single crawdad claw on it showed where he ate his last meal. Various runs underwater and on the shore showed the paths the mink has been taking. Interesting and fun, the things you notice once you start trapping. I have hunted my entire life, but I truly believe that I have been much more in tune with my surroundings, out in the woods since I started trapping this past spring.

Cool picture. And being a trapper makes us slow down and really look.

With all those nice rocks there I wouldn't be able to resist making a rock tunnel at the waters edge.
Nice mink. What did your friend think? About the mink.

The mink had 2 distinct runs that would make easy sets. My buddy thought the mink was a young otter at first, then he didn't know what it was.
