Hi everyone,
Stupid question, i skinned, fleshed and boarded my first coyote a couple weeks ago, in the mist of things i screwed it up a bit. while taking the ear cartilage out i accidentally ripped most the ears out, and while fleshing it damaged the rear legs, had to cut them off, that`s how bad the legs were. i did make holes in the pelt while fleshing, but took my time to sew them up.
my question is!

is it still worth sending it in? or ?

Send It It's not worth anything just hanging In the shed.
There are some processors that just take the ears off to begin with. So that shouldn't be a problem. As for the legs not much use for them In the fur trade. So I think your good to go.

My first coyote was missing the ears and the tail and had about six eye holes in the head. I still got sixty buck for it. How far up did you damage the legs? I'd assume if it's legs and not the upper hip region, you're okay.

i`ve brought it in to NAFA yesterday. One of the graders looked at it and didnt say anything about the legs. Told me it was a nice looking coyote, ears were fine the way i did them, partialy there , but missing most of them. lol. i took off a little too much in the lower front area while trimming, but otherwise not bad. said there was a slight rub on the one side but noting i can do, or did on that.
Said i was heading in the right direction on the fur handling part of it, so that was comforting.
all in all not a bad job i was told. So time will tell what i get for it.

Turns out i did ok on my first coyote. After sewing the holes, and some partially missing ears. Still managed to get 86$ U.S
have to say pretty Pumped for my first one.

There are processors that remove the ears completely. Very little value on the hind legs.

You did good.

Can't remember who told me but you can completely cut off the ears with no deductions.
