President Trump just said he wanted to get rid of the name NAFTA. Is this a good thing or bad thing for trappers with the fur market? What say you?

May The Lord bless and keep you
May His face shine upon you
And be gracious and give you peace

First time i ever felt that if the President signs a trade deal, Americans will be better off.

We need to figure out if NAFTA was good for us as a nation or just something to make the politicians rich by screwing us like they have in the past. Just like sending jobs overseas and how it would help us! Not labeling our meat products to be fair to other nations, heck pick up their standards might work even better for them we have costly standards to follow why 'blue light" us then.

Politicians stopped working for us years ago they work for each other they go to DC and leave millionaires later on.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

What NAFTA is called doesn't matter as to its function. But if it makes the public think it was removed and that helps ease their mind, why not? I don't know how the original Nafta affected the fur trade, like most people have no idea what is included in Nafta, they are just told to hate it so they do. Ask the businesses that moved out of the U.S. if they moved away because of NAFTA or high labor costs. Most will say they were going-- nafta or not. Like the businesses that have left since Trump became president. They want to stay in business.

Nafta made a lot of money for many Americans, and Mexicans, and Canadians. I don't know if that includes fur trappers. From my fur check last year, probably not. Maybe if Nafta is replaced with the exact same deal, but called American Fur Workers Enrichment Agreement, the check will be the same, but we will spend it smiling. Trump wants people to think he saved the country from a horrible deal and only he can successfully negotiate anything. He sold that idea to many people who should know better. I guess that means he is a heck of a salesman, and that ain't a bad thing. If changing the name gets more people working, I don't care what they call it.

We live and work in a consumer driven service oriented economy which is becoming more so as time passes. What we need to ask our selves what serves consumers and service sectors the best here in the USA? Consumers benefit from lower costs and higher supplies with many options. This is especially true if wages don't keep up with economic growth and or inflation.

It was never what the name implied,it was never a free and open market across the border.
If it becomes more free for trade, that is good,if it becomes less open then that's not good.

Maybe a market will develop for beaver tail leather cowboy boots with extremely pointy toes.

I'm thinking beaver tacos. Have sold a few to Hispanics and they seemed to really like them. Still trying to develop the market. Meat is worth more dinero than fur here in the south.

Tried some lynx pepperets, also some beaver pepperets at the Ontario trappers convention in Timmins this past weekend.
What a great turnout,34,000 thru the gate I heard.Bigger than last years in Ottawa. It was held in conjunction with the kayak challenge,so lots of non trappers had the chance to see what we do.
Don't know how many americans made it?

I think we ought to have free trade with Canada. no restrictions no taxes no subsidies from either country. we ought to blockade mexico until they start assisting with stopping illegals.

I say no trade with the USA until you remove your fur trade bans, especially on our seal products.

The 20% teriff's getting put on fur by China surely is not a good thing.

It's going to be painful to fix the past 40-50 years of shipping out this nation's manufacturing to make the fat cats fatter. If it even can be fixed at this point. We could get left in the dust.

You only live once, so get over it!

Tactics may change but the goal remains the same.

I agree, how about an American run fur auction company, and how about a fur sale in an American city.

Make America great again within the fur industry.

I agree too Danny.I wish I could sell my fur products across the border without all the BS(from both sides) that makes it a non starter.

You just need more South Americans in Canada, that will increase your Fur value. They would buy fur by the arm loads to stay warm.
