I got enough lighter knot in my backyard I collected over the years I could melt the North Pole! Wife laughs at me but I use it a lot! Always got some in all my kits/packs/ camping gear. Got some cut too "matches" and some small hand size blocks for shavings!

I'm almost afraid to admit that I use Vaseline and cotton balls (for fire-starters) also.

Eh...wot?

Flint and Steel...char cloth ..Tow...and birch bark. Or a .357 case filled with pine sap works wonders with a match

Det cord (PETN) does burn well, and RDX with a plasticizer makes C-4, which also burns well. However, be careful of the toxic fumes they produce.

Is that bowl on the left side, the bowl you use to clean your toilet paper with?

Tough to beat the white birch bark for a pleasant aroma and it burns hot wet or dry

Same. The egg carton is really just to hold the lint though. Dryer lint works great in about any configuration, especially waxed. I’ll probably make some in TP tubes now.

Another propane torch guy here. If the wood is dry you don't even need any kindling. Just let the torch rip for two mins.

Although as an emergency firestarter when in the bush Vaseline and cotton balls work awesome.

Call me old-school, but I like matches and gasoline. Pretty much foolproof, but can be hard on forearm hair.

Junk oil or gas here. A torch for a minute and voila. Flame.
