Not a word obout the Agreement made with Mexico from cnn or MSNBC, so it must be a good thing for trump and the country. The deal has a lot to do with car manufactureing and that cars sold here are made here and if made in Mexico, they have to pay atleast 16.00 an hour. Now I know for a fact if nobama had made this same deal, he would have gotten a Nobel prize.

NAFTA was lousy for the US and great for Canada and Mexico. The new deal with Mexico is better for the US and the new deal with Canada will be better for the US too, which is one of the reasons the US stock market is continuing to rocket upwards.

Not sure about the fur trade, but I lost a very good job do to the NAFTA agreement...

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

Call it george or hairy or lulu; getting rid of the name does not change the deal.
If he wants to get rid of the agreement, then that could be something else.

As to the fur market, it is mostly in Asia, not North America, and fur is a mere speck on the worlds economy.

The countries are operating under the NAFTA regs until newer ones are formulated or each party agrees to decide which issues they want to change and when. Most likely that will involve politically hot button items for each side and that may lead to more items being released from the agreement. Interesting contrasts for the discussions. Canada hase 35 million people with a high standard of living and produce large amounts of exportable goods, while Mexico has 110 million people with a much, much lower standard of living and are importers of many goods and services with the exception of oil. All three nations have very specific items they want to promote and or preserve.
The one advantage that negotiations for us have is that being democracies for the most part governments respond to citizens and it is less likely that leaders can force intentional poverty on millions like some of the more authoritative leaders can do.

I know a guy who is now retired from Alcoa. Towards the end of his carreer he was first sent to Mexico to train people to do a job, they paid them 75 cents per hour. He was then sent to China to do the same, they paid them 35 cents per hour.Thats what he told me for what it's worth.

It took three presidents and a couple Acts of Congress to get the NAFTA in place, Trump can renegotiate parts of it, but there is not a chance in the world that he can "axe" it. He could change the Name of it. (maybe call the Hidden Trade Agreement, HTA?)
Not really a chance that we would want him to end it if it was legal for to. World wide unintended consequences could end us in a worse place than we are.

sounds like a job that is worth less than a dollar an hour... Probably cost $27 in the USA for some one with the skills and education to perform the same job. The average USA citizen is the worst enemy we have as a country.

Yes we pay less for auto and other parts that are now made in china and mexico, but we lost most of the small shops in this state that were suppliers for those parts. Many good jobs gone. Jobs you could raise a family on, that you didn't need a collage degree to get.

Does NAFTA benefit US?

My plant has a location in Mexico. In the same business park is:

John Deere
CAT
Whirlpool
WIX Filters
Bic
Delphi

They all showed up after 2008 and that is just one business park in one little rural town.

They work for less in Mexico and to compete US companies cut jobs making less people do more and move some or all operations to Mexico.

Its just like nature. Its a cycle. Quality, Shipping, and Responsiveness to fix problems will wear the end user down and those that can stay in business will slowly get it back over time.

Look for yourself and zoom in on the buildings and business names.

I agree with Bob Sheedy. We would not be in this mess if it weren't for the politicians. I also agree with Mr.Boco

Spot on Boco.
Our Pres offered to do that, but no takers. Mexico did agree to some no-tariff trade, but not far reaching enough. Trumps' working on it.

The elected officials care about two thing's. Getting re-elected and getting rich ! I don't care if they are Democrat or Republican !! It takes campaign donation's to achieve this. Who donates to there campaign's ? The same people who got rich exporting the manufacturing. They lie right to the American Peoples face and they have put up with it.While behind closed door's passed legislation to undermind the working people of this nation.

Ross Perot gave us a the truth in 92, let's see a show of hands for who voted for him ? lol I did !

October 15, 1992, in the three-way presidential debate between Perot, Republican President George H. W. Bush and Democratic nominee Bill Clinton.

During that debate, Perot made a prediction about the effects of the proposed North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Many people today would view it as prescient.

Perot said:

“If you're paying $12, $13, $14 an hour for factory workers and you can move your factory south of the border, pay $1 an hour for your labor, have no health care, have no environmental controls, no pollution controls and no retirement, and you don't care for anything but making money, then there will be a giant sucking sound going south.”

Keep in mind both the Republican and Democrat was for NAFTA.Also this didn't just start with NAFTA(or Bush & Clinton) it was just the last nail in the coffin.
