Her boss is a jerk I heard, she was there longer than him I thought my mom was going to work for longer but you nailed it above. 45 years , she saw corporate culture change a series of younger hot shot jerk bosses who she knew were just using the position as a run on the ladder. I though she would work till 65 or 70 but when my dad retired and not long after she was making plans for her 62nd birthday she had so much vacation stored up that she worked her 2nd to the last day was 7 weeks before her last day it was her only job , she started as a co-op/workstudy student at 17 while still in high school , went full time right out of high school.

Working forever
Never taking time off, or vacations:
Usual signs of a cover-up.
I'd check the books.

T-Rex took the words right out of my mouth. Off the top that just seems fishy.

Loyalty in the workplace is something to be commended.
The problem is that it once was the norm; today it is only an outside possibility. I would like to think the person to whom you refer is a hard working loyal employee, that simply is reciprocating to the loyalty of her employer.
I say, give her a gold watch. Check the books, too. An honest employee might just appreciate the verification.

I have been with my present employer 20 years I know that sounds like a long time to many but you would be surprised it just doesn't seem like I started that long ago. 2 years ago we hired my coworkers granddaughter , I remember her dad bringing her in when she was still in a car seat.

That's really un called for Nah, that's just reality. It's nothing personal on her, heck none of us know her. But I have been exposed to a little bit of accounting stuff both when I was in school and at my job. That kind of behavior, while commendable, is a red flag for fraud detection.

I'd check the books. You are adding things to her history that never happened, you should write a fictional book maybe

Her boss is a jerk I heard, she was there longer than him And she probably knows more about the customers then he/she will ever learn. She will be truly missed by the customers, I would guarantee it. I hope she will enjoy her retirement. B
