That's how I've always skint them...but never tried scoring the legs to tenderize.. Killed a mess of old grays this morning and will give it a whirl !! Thanks

Our season started August 1. I went out and popped one, but I'll probably wait till it gets colder to do any more because the woods are full of spiders right now!!! eek
