Anyone use the cement mixer from there for waxed dirt? Looking at the 1 1/4 cu foot one for price and should do about 5 gallons per?

Have one of those, but have not used it for that. They are not what I would call a tough working machine. Kind of very light duty sort of rig. If you don't load it up too much I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I just bought one and intend to do that with it..It isn't heavy duty by any means , but it should handle the dirt mixing as it's already dry and sifted... Guess I'll see soon enough.. I'm not sure whether to go with a weed torch or melt the wax first as I've read on here..
Guess I'll find that out too.. Good Luck.. No matter how you look at it , it's cheap and won't stand up to much abuse... Be gentle Grasshopper !!!! LOL

As far for mixing concrete, if you use the 60# bags, it’ll work the dickens out of you! Lol. Using it for wax dirt I’ve got no clue.

I watched a guy at the FTA gathering in Central City Ia demonstrate waxing. He had a harbor freight mixer. He used a fish fryer stand for heat. it worked OK. I believe he said he does 3 gallons at a time.

Yep, it will handle a 5 gal bucket full of dirt or sand. This happens to also be a 70lb tube of sand. Mine is going on its 4th season and working good. I found a lid to put over it wile mixing. This really helps keep all the dirt in wile turning. The lid is just a thin cooking pan lid with a bungee cord across it. I replaced the end bolts of the paddles with eye bolts to accept the bungee hooks.

The only problem I have had is the plastic handle broke off of the mixer last fall, I replaced it with a pipe handle. I have noticed some wear on the notches that the gear drives the tub with. This may be a problem in the future, but at this rate of wear it will take many more years.

I’ve got two years on mine, no problems as of yet ! I have noticed the gear case gets pretty warm when using it to clean traps but that sandblasting media ( black beauty ) is a lot heavier than dirt .

The dirt has to be hot before you add the wax. If you pour molten wax into cons dirt it will become a solid block. Use the weed burner to heat the dirt then put in either flake wax or premelted wax.

Mine is very similar to the one pictured above. Going on third year of trap cleaning and dirt waxing, 50 to 100 gallons waxed dirt yearly, no issues yet. During assembly I left out the rubber seal for fear or weed torch melting it while waxing dirt. That said leaks a bit cleaning traps.

I'm on my second one. Motor went bad with the first one. With the second one, I unbolt the motor cover as I think it gets to hot inside. With it open, the motor runs cooler. Have run the second one for 4 years now with no problems. There is no tag or markings on the motor, so I have no idea what to replace it with. I make 150 gallons of waxed sand a year.

I ran the bigger one for 15 years tumbling trap parts. I replaced the paddles with 2x2 angle iron.

Yeah that drum seal has a real funky stink when it gets hot. I dont even use the paddles, I just break up a block of wax, put the dirt in and heat it up with a weed burner while it tumbles until the moisture is removed and throw in wax warming dirt again if needed until starts looking moist and tumble during cool down. You can speed up cool down with hose water trickled on drum

Only thing I'd worry about it breaking down the dirt into dust with a mixer, I like mine to have some "chunkiness" to it for drainage reasons I have had the finer dirt hold the water on top long after the ground had absorbed the water that was not waxed.
