You stomach is full of Hydrochloric acid too. So much so that any steel used in constructing sewage treatment plants will rust out in a few years if not epoxy coated. A hollow metal door frame will last less than nine years, just from exposure to the fumes.

We are comparing hydrochloric acid to 5% vinegar diluted 50/50 with water. Right?

You know 5% acid vinegar which is what you buy at the grocery. Which most guys further dilute with a like amount of water. I dunno---Does that make 2 1/2% acid? That's what this guy is claiming damaged his trap springs.

if vinegar ate your trap springs you need to take better care of your traps. no reason in the world for them to get that rusty. vinegar will dissolve rust. dip clean traps in hot melted wax once in a while or paint them, or use trap dip. don't leave them outside all summer in a bucket full of water and tell people it was vinegar that ruined them

You should never put springs in any kind of acid for any amount of time as it will destroy them.
