I too liked the Rocky Mountain fleshing knife and used it for many years because I couldn't find another knife that worked like it did. That was until I tried the Post fleshing knife. No comparison, the Post is a much better and lighter knife. So I think by retiring it you will find there are some better knives out there now.
If you like the style then go with Lee's fleshing knife as stated above. Actually Lee's standard knife was what Rocky Mountain copied from what I understand. I could be wrong but that's what I was told years ago. Don't overlook Lee's parallel knife it's comparable to the Post. I will check it out. thank you guys

Yep one of Majors. My grandfather made them for him. He had a welding/ blacksmith shop when we first moved to Fort Collins in about 83. Major and my grandfather hit it off and we did a lot of welding for him. I have one of the first ones, that I use all the time. My gramps passed away in 2005. My little brother and I worked for Major for about 7 years and he is the one I learned how to trap beaver from. I try and go see him whenever I get down that way. I know my grandfather is still smiling down knowing something he help build is still being used.

I am fairly sure I bought mine in the late 1980's, probably from the (now defunct) Colorado Fur Company in Fort Collins, CO.

I wish now I knew what year I bought the knife. looks just like the picture. I know it was between 80 and 85. So it could have been lee made it or Jmack's grand father. Lee was there any markings on yours that would not be on the other company's? or any way to tell yours from the other company. Not that it matter other than history of my knife and being able to pass that on to my grand sons. Mine does not have a hole in the blade Also lee other than the handle is the knife close to the same as the one I have?

I vaguely remember the new one having the Rocky Mountain Fur Company being stamped on it.
