When you die, will your veteran buddies be talking at your funeral?

Probably because they are still all conservative, since brain tumors did not destroy their brains, corrupting how they think.

I doubt the media will make a big deal about my death, since I didn't sell out on my own party.

McCain was one of the few who remembered he was elected to work for all Americans BEFORE the party.

Benedict Arnold was a hero to the Tories. I reckon things ain't changed much in over 200 years.

Like how he worked for all Americans with his involvement with the Keating Five. Doesn't seem like anyone engaged in this hero worship remembers that.

Like most politicians, McCain worked for himself BEFORE all others.

can't say about his but I know my grandfathers funeral was missing all his Navy buddies , because he was the last of them they died in the 3 months preceding his death his best friend's wife was present.
when your in your 80s there aren't many left.

the news did comment he was being buried next to a long time friend from the naval academy so I suppose that answers some of it at least one of his buddies is already dead.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I would have to totally disagree. I believe it is a very wise man who plans ahead. It saves loved ones the stress of having to deal with your final arrangements. Why put your family in the position of having to deal with everything involved in a death when they are grieving. I have everything spelled out. My body is being donated to a medical school and when they are done studying my body they will cremate me. Then they will give the ashes to my children. There will be no funeral. If my kids want to have a memorial service they can but I have told them I don't need one. I have my burial plot purchased and my tombstone bought and in place. I told my kids to just throw my ashes in the river, but if they don't want to do that they can stick them in the burial plot. Then all they have to do is contact the monument company and have them come to the grave yard and etch the date of death on the tombstone.

If I didn't have all this stuff done then my kids would have to do it. It's just plain respectful to take are of the arrangements yourself and not put the burden on family.

My name ain't Keith

10/4 but will you schedule the speakers, will you have a go no go list, will you practically write your own eulogy? The man was a legend in his own mind. Also how many men can work in public service all their life and own a huge ranch with all the fixins?

At least they are not planting him at Arlington.

I have always wondered how Ted Kennedy qualifies for Arlington ??

From Wikipedia on eligibility for Arlington;
Quote:
...Any former member of the armed forces who served on active duty (other than for training) and who held any of the following positions:

An elective office of the U.S. Government (such as a term in Congress)...
Ted did a year or two as a private and got elected a few times, so I guess he qualifies.
