Going start reloading again, been out for about 12-15 years. Reloading - .223, 7mmm-08, 260, 250 savage, 30-30, 308, 280. What powder do guys that reload recommend. A lot of new numbers that I never used. Primers I was going to use CCI.

RL7 will cover .223,7/08,30-30 and 308? I happen to have a good bit on hand, so that is what I go with. I also use Imr-4895. You will get many different powder recommendations. Lot to choose from. Hope this helps, Sarge

I would start with hodgen varget. I believe it will cover most of your cartridges. Is basically identical to re 15 which should also be a good choice.

Planning to use the same powder for that range of cartridges is not a good idea. Get up to date reloading data either from a new manual or from what is published by the powder mfgs. Hodgdon and others have good on-line resources (Hodgdon makes H, Winchester, and IMR powder).

I like the IMR powders.

well there is a reason I use H4895

it would work for everything your looking to reload depending on bullet weight

I started with H4895 because it was "the" powder for 30-06 M1 Garand and that was the first rifle I reloaded for.

I load it in 223 it works very well under a 55gr hornady soft point

works well in 308 and 30-06

I have loaded it in 30-30

there is available data for everything else in your list

it shows it's weakness when you get to heavy for cal bullets but with a mod range load and mid range bullet there isn't much you can't load it in and it takes reduced loads well down to about 60% of max

there are other powders out there , Varget being one that can surpass H4895 for accuracy but H4895 was used in long range competition for a long time and while it won't hang with the Vargets and some of the others anymore for extreme accuracy it will usually hold under a minute to a mid range target in anything I have tried it in.

the other thing is H4895 is very temperature stable not much change in velocity or pressure from 0 to 100 degrees

Hodgdon has a very nice reloading data website as well so you can go compare many of your options.
