I am having a 1/4 mile of road frontage fenced with 4 strands of barb wire, metal post no wood and metal T-post. It is all level ground that is clear and has been brush hogged. There is a 16 foot new gate that will be in the middle of the 1/4 mile making it about an 1/8 of a mile on each side.

Also there will be some old fence removed not much less than an have of the 1/8 on one side had an old rusted fence in the brush. Having it taken out and disposed of.

What would this cost in your area???

We used to say $1,000 per quarter mile to build new but that was several years ago. I’m sure it has gone up since then. Should be pretty easy to figure cost of material with a phone call to the lumber yard or feed store.

Out there in your country (hopefully my country again one day - I sure miss it) I can't imagine how bad it would suck to build a 1/4 mile long fence lol.

spend the extra and put up at least the 5th strand - if you lose a strand on a 4 - stuff gets out - I know, I got one of my cows out of the neighbors soybeans last night

Honestly, there's not nearly enough info to estimate. Not to mention it can vary from one are to the next. But steel posts can be 2" thin galvanized, to 6" heavy wall or something in between. Barbed wire can be 12 gauge for $80+ a roll, or 15.5 gauge HT for $35/roll. BTW, the cheaper stuff makes a better cattle fence IMO.

I did some shopping around and I couldn't find anyone willing to install fence around here. I am building 4ft woven wire. Only bout a quarter mile right now but it is in 6 150 ft x 150ft paddocks to rotational graze sheep so lots of braces and 9 gates. I have almost a grand in just the wooden posts for h-braces. Another 350 in quickcrete. All together I am.looking at almost 4K.

Depending on Terrain and If there is Rock. Around here probably 1.25-2.00 a Ft. For putting it up. Depending on which crew and how good you want it to look.
I would pay to put the Line post in Hedge instead of Steel. Just my opinion though.

two custom crews in the area, $3.75 per foot for 47 inch woven wire and a barb on top. that includes 2 corners and a pattern of 2 steel , one hedge line post . they tear out old, you haul away. both crews at least six weeks out. had some done last week
