How soon do you guys recommend replacing the coil springs on these traps? I'm using the 2 coil models. Thanks!

Ive had mine for a long time and the springs are still fine. I would recommend adding a set of Lightning springs over changing them out myself as long as you didn’t cut the pins off on them. It would be a lot easier.

I am about the same.I've been using them for several years and not being close to needing a spring change on any.I also believe it is a good idea to bend the spring pins in rather than cutting them and add helper springs when needed.

No one who isn't actually there can tell you when you need to change springs. You have to gain a feel for that. It's a judgement call at best.I can tell you, they can go a long ways past new,out of the box strength and still hold coyotes.

Try setting new 550s at shows and compare the springs to yours. If the they are significantly stronger, time to change.

Yep, I 4 coiled my older models with weaker stock springs with Lightning springs desined for the 550s and the newer models with stronger stock springs with old lightning springs designed for Monty 1.5s rjs, to add lift on the bottem end to fight freeze thaw conditions. If the pan drops they fire! My original dozen from 2012 are still strong.

Changing the main springs can be a chalenge.
