I set the tester in the center of the pan.

And I set the loose jaw up against the edge of the bed, tight. Might be towards me on a regular dirt hole, and walk thru, or to the side on a step down. Just depends.

I just like a lighter pan tension, with no travel. I have fox mixed in with 'yotes, and want to catch everything that comes in. Nothing wrong with 3# tension if 'yotes are all that you are targeting.

I bought 3 dozen and just waxed some. I’m also at about 3.5 lbs now with the tester. I’ll check them all but 3.5 lbs is fine for me. for every fox I catch I catch 10 coyotes. Thank God. I love these traps.

I did some filing on a couple traps last night. Easy 2lbs with minimal filing. thanks everyone for the help!

I need 4# pan tension to keep the junk out. I catch all fox no grinners unless a monster size one no rabbit or bird dusting.
Not a floppy pan person. Can't catch 300 plus coyotes taking rabbits out of your traps.
