I'm going to the cabin this winter for 7-10 days and hiking the mountains with a basket of traps. The area I'm trapping is 27000 acres and not many roads/trails. Any of you guys use a handheld gps to help with marking traps and location. Looking for recommendations.

You get what you pay for when getting things like a real good GPS. All of mine are Lowrance's.

Garmin GPSMAP 64s or st. I tried several and found this one most convenient for frequent marking and finding of sets. The fancy touch-screen models were not to my liking for frequent place marking, nor was the cheaper Etrex 120 model. The 64st model comes with a 100K USA/Canada geo map which is good but lacks the detail found in 24K state geo maps which are sold separately and replace the 100K map in the SD slot.

I have used Lowrance and Garmin. So far, my favorite is Garmin Oregon? I would like much better if it had a larger screen so would buy a Garmin Montana if buying today.
