Does anyone use hickory for their fleshing beam?

What do you mean "fiberglass it"? I am making one out of a hickory 2×6, would that still be beneficial? Why? Thanks. I'm just looking for info.

NO reason to glass over a wood beam. I think mine Is 40 years old and Is still going strong. Mine Is just a 8" pine plank.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

My current one is pine. I think that hickory will be a lot better and definitely more durable.
