Do things like this work or are they kind of gimmicky?

I used to have them. They kept the leaves out just fine but I have a lot off maple trees around here. The buds would get through them and make a mess. I decided that if I had to remove them every year to clean that out I might as well not have them in at all!

I have them at my house. I live in the woods and they do keep leaves out.

I have them and they work great on leaves, fairly well on pine needles. I got too old to climb ladders to clean out gutters.

Mixed results myself. They work great if they stay clean but leaves get wet and plug up the screen causing the water to run off the roof as there weren't any gutters. Like kodiak said, "might as well not have them at all".

Most of the cheaper ones are junk. I like the leafproof system

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

We have mostly just pine needles here. No complaints

Not sure how they do it but Menards just had them on sale. With the rebate they will be free? So put some on the kids house. He fights chines elms leaves and with the big maple helicopters. Guess we'll see if they work for him.

The screens didn't work well for me. I'm replacing gutters right now, and am going to try Gutter Helmet.

The stuff is pricey, but if it does what they claim, it will be worth it.

Had the menards kind on our house when we bought it. I took them all off. We had a lot of pines and the needles all went through and clogged up the gutter. Also the birch seed pods clogged them up. Dono how long the were on, but half were broken and most so brittle any winter the snow was gonna break em all.

The snow would melt and the water would freeze on the Gutter Helmet and form icecicles. Some of them were five feet long hanging off the second story. They were dangerous. If you are going to use Gutter Helmet you should also consider using heat tape along with it.

Some gutters on one side of my house would get clogged up with the shells that come off of the buds in the spring, then the helicopters that come down in the summer, and then the leaves that come down in the fall.

I put on the cheap gutter covers like in the picture and in the past three years I've only had to clean those gutters out one time. They are cheap, don't last forever, and don't work perfectly. But they are cheap and a darn sight better than nothing.
