So im pretty sure ive got a bad head gasket and more than likely some bad rings on my w300. I need two things. First where do i go to buy a running junk yard engine and second who do i go to for a rebuild in the interior? Ive googled but not getting any productive results.

Carburated. But im not entirely sure a fuel injected model wouldnt work with my intake. My block is circa 1975.

Unless you want to rewire and install computers for the fuel injection I would stay with the carb. Also a 340 or 360 would fit too.

Update the truck or the engine?? I picked this truck up over the summer for $800. I cant afford a new truck. This thing is a beast. 60 front 70 rear 205 and a np445 4 spd. I need it for wood and general utility. It has a supposed rebuilt 318 but sat 10 years after the rebuild. Who knows if any of the bs the guy told me was true. It smoked and i knew what i was getting into lol. If i could just find another running engine to slap in for cutting wood next summer, i could go through the original or have it done...cost pending.

Not looking to modify to that extent. Would be nice to just swap in a runner.

A 318 or 340 or 360 should be a direct bolt in swap.

shop craigslist or junk yards.... It might be cheaper to just find out why is is smoking. You could do a leak down test and that would a least tell you if it is one cylinder or more. Could be something as simple as a valve guide. Or from the old days you could dump some STP in it and see what that does but then I would not fun it in the winter.
