This time of year I just use 1/8 oz. Jigheads with a 3 inch Twister Tail and Catch them. Orange or Chartreuse Colors are my Favorite. My Buddy floats a shiner under a Bobber and has descent luck

Spinnerbairs, spoons, are a good start and you can cover a lot of water with them. Jerkbaits and crankbaits work well too...actually anything with any action put in front of them can induce a strike when they are hungry.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Hard to beat an old fashioned red and white or five of diamonds daredevle if you are covering ground. If you are fishing one hole hit it with a few different lures and then a bobber with a minnow or cut bait works well

Excellent, MnMan. Love the rock (and the winning wager). That's my kind of fishin'.
Many years ago (really wish I could find the photo), while living in bush Alaska, I took one of my daughter's Barbie Dolls, drilled a couple holes in the bottoms of the feet and through the top of the head. Strung a wire leader through it, and attached a swivel at the head and 2 large single hooks out the feet. This quickly became my favorite pike lure. Was a hoot!

My all time favorite pike lure is a Williams wabbler.Gold and silver-medium sized. For live bait a large sucker minnow.

our little river is high and a big bass spinnerbait thrown into the flooded grass has been deadly.
