Does lever orientation on a Vic 2 double long spring set in a pocket hole matter? And where are you putting the dog? I plan on trying some older Vic 2 DBLS traps in pockets under some bridges in the water and am trying to strategize the best method.

Thanks

Some guys like them stepping over a jaw, some inline with the jaws. I don't think it really matters. If the hole is big enough, I like them at 11 and 1, in the hole. If not, 5 and 7 at the approach, but a twig blocking each spring.

Keep the trap out of the hole so you can catch them when their just looking In. Loose jaw toward the edge of the hole with the springs pulled back so the loose jaw lays flat.
A small twig placed over the dog will guide the mink between the jaws. No more then 1/2" of water over the pan you want that mink walking not swimming.
I think It's a huge mistake to place the trap In the hole. Catch them when they approach the hole. No different then setting a dirt hole.

I generally always set my #11's that way too, at a pocket set, or "slick up" crawdad hole set. Loose jaw towards hole and a guide stick at the dog. It just seems easier than digging that spring into the hole or bank and works good.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
