Just wondering about different ways people carry their snares out in the field? I can only use snares for water trapping so have been using ziplock bags to keep them separated and placed in an old backpack!

For me I made a small bag out of a old pair of jeans and made a strap out of the jeans also and use it that way. The coyotes and anything else I trap dose not matter to them.

That's an elegantly simple design. I haven't figured out a really good method for carrying snares on my cat line except ziplocs in the top of my backpack. Tools and support wire are usually just stuffed in a side pouch. The whole thing is a big mess to unpack on the side of a slush covered hill and everything comes out in a big wad. I like Jim's purpose built pouch with everything you need neatly in one place. His chaps are nice too.

I had jc’s bag and it was pretty darn nice, I wished it had a little quiver deal built in to carry half a dozen supports and a stake driver somehow, but it was a nice product for sure.

If you are trappin beaver, It helps to have a section of rope to help carry them by wrappin the rope around their legs.
Just run the rope through your coiled up snares & loop it across one shoulder.
I was taught to always carry rope with me water trapping as a safety device in case I need to get out of a body grip,
mine or someone else's.( hats off to Paul ).

I have heard the the muskrat bag from Montana trapper bags is pretty nice for snares.

I really like JC Conner's bag but it seems too small for what I carry when hanging snares.
I want those chaps tho!!

Ive done that before but unless you are in pretty wide open territory, it doesnt protect the snares and you'll have a mess.

We coiled ours up and put them in clean 3qt ice cream plastic pails with lids and handles. You can write with a sharpie on lid the contents of each bucket. Super light to carry and can put a dozen or so in a bucket no problem.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Wear a fly fishing vest, the 2 lower pockets hold a bunch of snares. If needed the back game pouch can hold even more

Pick up an old leather laptop bag at a garage sale or where ever. Some of them usually have three or four dividers inside. They have room for cable cutters, plyers and all kinds of stuff in the small side pockets. I can carry 50 plus snares and all the stuff I need for each stop. The shoulder strap makes it easy to carry and when I'm resetting I hang it on a tree or set it on the ground.

When I go back to the truck I can restock. If I'm on the quad or skidoo it hangs from the handlebars. The one I use has zippers and a flap that goes over the top of the zippers and right to the bottom edge of the bag. The flap keeps dirt or snow out of the inside of the bag. It might not work for everyone, but it the best snare bag I have found for the price. The leather makes it last and I've had this one for the last 7 years. I can usually find them for under $5 at a garage sale.

If you coil up your snares properly you don't have to put them in zip lock bags. Grab and set your snare and move on. I set with bare hands and move to the next set. Quicker the better for me.
