In terms of defeating swivels, nothing beats a grinner. How do they beat everything out in that regard?

I think they get the swivels clogged more quickly because they are so low to the ground and compact. When you compare them to a coon that wants to climb a tree to escape or a canine that jumps up off the ground they just don't get the chain and swivels out of the ground debris like other animals do.

Like grey said they are right there next to the ground, not very strong (can not lift the trap off the ground), and just keep walking in a circle dragging everything into the center.

They're mad at trappers , so they take grass and wrap it all up in the swivels, scoop up dirt and jam pack the dirt inside the swivels. Then they urinate on it to make it muddy and then it dries hard as a rock... laugh

And there is an unbelievable amount of grinners put on this Earth to do nothing more than mess up efforts put into good canine sets.

There is not much will take them out. They live a long time. I was told they are problem for the health for horses but do not know how true that is.Beside they do work on game birds nest and anything else. Just like a coon and skunk dose.If to bring back game birds take them out.I skin and put up every one I get.I sell them all also.

yellow paint is the best lure for them, this is why they are all splattered on the road.

I read somewhere also that they have an incredibly good immune system, they are not very susceptible to many diseases that take out other species.

Than, you for the write up you post. That is what i was told about but was not sure because for who told me about you can not be sure how true it was. but i posted about just in case it was true and I did hear of others stated the same.
I also hear that they have a incredibly good immune system. I know it is one of the very few mammals that have not change much in time like any other animals that have. I know that eagles will eat them if they are hungry.

Trappers that let grinners walk don't deserve to get into purgatory.

Funny you should ask. I was just over at a friend's house this morning in southeast Alaska. I was joking with him about relocating some possums to SE AK (they'd do great here), he wasn't amused.

That got us on the subject of "why are grinners so bad" we really couldn't think of any reasons other than they might be hard on nesting birds?? I've never really had much experience with them; sounds like I don't want to.

Best setup to take 'possum: cage trap with chunk of asphalt for bait and something playing road sounds in the back end.
