Possums are a good critter for kids. Easy to catch, easy to deal with in a trap, even if that means teaching how to let a critter go. They're usually pretty calm.

We’d be more forgiving if grinner fur had some value. The skin rips easily and they aren’t used much for anything. Maybe felt, I don’t know. HOWEVER, if we could get wool users to mix grinner fur with wool, I’m told it makes warm garments.

In Australia, they mix their opossum fur with wool and the garment industry has embraced the end results. For the record, the Australian possum is much different than it’s North American cousin. But the idea is the same: blend North American possum fur with wool and we’ll have a market for it.

I have to think that coyotes will eat them, I know Great Horned Owls will eat smaller ones.

If coyotes ate them, Minnesota wouldn’t have many. Alas, coyotes will eat other coyotes (carcasses) faster than possums!

I skin every one of them. easy to skin, easy to flesh easy to put up. I tan a few and they sell quick. The rest of them get me $3-$5.

What is opossum fur used for ? All those pelts go somewhere for something.
