I am considering my first black powder and have it narrowed. What do you think of the two?

6 of one, half dozen of the other. Both are great shooters. I’ve owned both. The question you have to ask yourself is, “Will you use it enough to justify the difference in cost?” The Accura has a few refinements that the Optima does not but if it’s something you’re only going to shoot a couple times each year, I doubt you’ll see enough difference to matter. Now, if it’s the last ML I was ever going to buy and I’d be using it fairly often, I’d spring for the Accura.

I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

The optima works great for me, didn't feel the need to up to the accura. Got mine at dunhams a few years back - believe it's the optima v2 package. included konus scope has held up very well.

Mine likes 100gr of white hot, 777 primer & 295gr aero-tip copper. The 245's weren't as consistent for me.

I have the Optima Elite and am happy with it. I had accuracy issues at first when using the recommended Power Belts but once I switched to sabots (TC Shockwave) accuracy is great.

I have an Optima, and am happy with it. Cannot compare/contrast with any other inline, as this is the only one I've ever shot.

I will tell you this though: Last year, I put my Optima away "dirty". So dirty, I could not get the breech plug out, and I broke the lever that releases the lock to open the action. Figuring I was paying "stupid tax", I mailed it back with a full explanation.

The gun was returned to me within a few weeks, completely fixed, cleaned and oiled..... and no charge. How can you beat that?

I have owned two accura rifles and loved both of them, the first was a mountain rifle that I shot several deer with and I now own a plains rifle that is extremely accurate as well. Great guns and the nitride barrel holds up to a lot of shooting very well. Have a buddy that owns an Optima that shoots very well also. Don't think you will be disappointed either way. The key to any muzzleloader or firearm IMO is to keep it clean when not in use and it will last a lifetime.

I have an Accura v2 and love it. I don't consider myself a great shooter but with 110gr settled charge of blackhorn 209 powder and a 245gr aero tip power belt ,I shoot a consistent 1 1/2" group at 150 yards and as low as 3/4"

Have an optima v2 also. 110 grains of blackhorn 209 with a Barnes sabot is deadly accurate. Puts whitetails down like Zeus struck them with a lightning bolt.

I own both.I think the Accura is more accurate. 150 grains of Triple Seven and Hornaday sabots will shoot 1.5in. groups at 100yds. Have it topped with a Nikon BDC reticle scope. Most deer drop in their tracks, a couple steps at the most.

I have the optima v1, mom in law has the accura v1 both are great shooters. I'm shooting 90 grains of blackhorn 209 with a 300grain 45cal hornady xtp(non magnum) and harvester crush rib sabots. Off the bench mine groups right around 1 1/2 inch.
